What has changed in the robot hands?
Boston Dynamics describes a new generation of Atlas hands with 13 degrees of freedom and direct actuation, balancing dexterity, strength, durability and serviceability. The design also supports high-fidelity simulation to help transfer reinforcement learning to physical robots.
ATOM perspective: start with the workflow
When assessing robotics, choose a repeatable, measurable task such as handling or sorting, then test success rates, exception handling and safety boundaries. A demonstration video does not establish readiness for every deployment environment.
Plan dispatch interfaces, permissions, activity logs and integration with inventory or management systems alongside the hardware. Gather data through a small pilot before expanding.
